Next Steps: USA / Canada
As already mentioned, the base for the American part of the Kokolus Story is the Immigrant Table.
- In this table, it is necessary to complete the further life stories of the individuals, i.e. mark those who returned to Europe, and in the cases of fixed immigrants map their descendants in the US/Canada up to these days. I have only gathered data from the common American genealogic databases, such as US Census, Immigration Ports, Army Books of Registration, and other documents. My aim was to create a list of the KOKOLUS family members who visited the American continent and who could possibly be the founders of the KOKOLUS history in America. However, I have not explored other databases, such as Social & Security records, telephone books, etc. The current situation of the family in the US/Canada was mapped by Tom McAvinia. Does anybody have an access to his work please? Are we able to install it on this web page? Alternatively, is there anyone in the US/Canada who would be able and willing to co-operate on mapping the current situation of the KOKOLUS families? Thank you.
- Regarding some members in the Immigrant Table, I am not able to find their ancestors from Zawadka, i.e. I do not know exactly who the father of a particular immigrant was and thus neither his personal life history or the history of the correspondent branch of his descendants in the USA (if the immigrant stayed in the US). There are several reasons for this: firstly, some data from Zawadka after 1900 are not completed yet; secondly, some archives were destroyed during the WW1/WW2; and thirdly, the immigration clerks in the US managed to maim some surnames considerably, or they were distorted during the digitalization process, see e.g. Kokolers, Kokol.s, atd. I hope that through this web page I will get some amplifying and completive information about the founders of the Kokolus Story in the USA – thank you in advance.
