History after WW2
According to the accessible information, the individual KOKOLUS families are nowadays located in the following countries:
- Poland – only very restricted information about the actual situation of the families is available. Some of them have stayed in the Zawadka area and some families dwell in a Szczecin region, where they were resettled during the Wisla operation. Based on Displaced Persons' cards Zuzanna Waclawek compiled more than 10 Kokolus family branches - for more info see Next Steps Poland. Nevertheless, I have not been successful in looking for Polish members of the KOKOLUS kin who would be able and willing to co-operate on mapping the situation of the family after the WW2. Could I hopefully find anybody cooperative in Poland now???
- Czech Republic and Slovakia – the family tree is fairly elaborated. Any supplements or corrections are welcome.
-
Ukraine and Russia – the situation alike in Poland. Some data have been gathered by Peter Kokolus from Košice. Is anybody able to complete them?
- USA and Canada - a great job has been done by late Tom McAvinia (his mother was Mary Kokolus b1917-d1972, his grandfather was Prokip Kokolus b1891-d1954 and his grandmother Anna Esther Rajtarowska b1892-d?). Tom contacted me 3 years ago and his idea of publishing the Kokolus Story has enchanted me. I have focused on the KOKOLUS history before the WW1 and after the WW2 in Europe because Tom‘s information about these particular parts were very restricted or none. Regrettably, Tom died and I do not have any access to his files about the Kokolus history after the WW1/WW2 in the US and Canada. Unfortunately I have not found there anybody who would be seriously interested in this research. So, could I hopefully find anybody in the US/Canada who does have an access to the Tom’s files and would like to complete the American part of the Kokolus Story???
- Rest of the world – no information about the KOKOLUS family. I would only like to draw attention to a fact that surnames such as KOKOLIS, KOKOLAS, KOKOLOS, etc. are fairly often used in the Mediterranean Sea area (especially at Crete, Cyprus and in Greece). Furthermore, for romantic-minded individuals with a sufficient amount of fantasy I add three more notions:
- King Kokalus in an English version, and Kokolos in a German version of the Daidalos & Ikaros story.
- Scribe Georgios Kokolos (see page nr. 11 in the text)
- Aristophanes lost play Kokolos
